Anna & Mike 2007-12-28 until 2008-01-01	Mike Garden Resort Hotel, Pattaya 3rd Road I was very impressed with how beautiful the hotel is! We stayed in a superior room that was gorgeous. It was spacious and clean and the bathroom was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was very good with a variety of food, including made to order eggs and scrambles. Now for the criticisms. The hotel is a little out of the way - our cab driver had a hard time finding it. It s about a 20min walk to the beach, or you can catch a minibus for 10baht. There isn t much around the hotel, so you pretty much need to go to the main strip along the beach. The staff do not speak much English and it can be hard to communicate if you need something (We wanted to store our bags in the office because our flight left late in the evening but checkout is at 12. We talked to at least 3 people before we found someone who understood what we were asking). We were there over New Year s and were extremely disappointed with the New Year s Eve party. They charged us 1500baht and required us to go. There was a buffet with less than extraordinary food (not the same quality as the breakfast buffet) and all drinks had to purchased (60baht for a beer, 120baht for a cocktail, soft drinks and juice were extra too). The staff were constantly asking us to buy drinks, even when we expressed our diappointment that we had to pay for them. They had an awful band playing oldies on a stage by the pool. Just before midnight they tried to sell us a bottle of champagne for an additional 1500 baht (so, we did not get a New Year s toast)! For a 1500baht NYE party, I would expect at least one drink and one glass of champagne to be included. They also had some cheap door prizes that were given away throughout the evening. I wasn t expecting to get my money s worth , but I wanted to feel like I had. We were extremely disappointed. So, my recommendation would be to definitely go there if you want a quiet and beautiful hotel experience, but to avoid all major holidays because you will be forced to pay for a poorly planned party.	Sawadee s service was excellent and answered all my questions in a timely manner.
Anna Kathryn Amen 2007-12-28 until 2008-01-01	Mike Garden Resort Hotel, Pattaya 3rd Road We stayed for the New Years Party (required $50 USD per person extra payment) and the party was pathetic. The band was of poor quality (didn t know the words to songs, so they would mumble) NO alcohol drinks were included, and the gifts were very cheap. I was not asking for much, and only expected to feel like I got my money worth, and it did NOT feel like they spent close to $50 per person. If you are going to stay any other time, I would say the hotel is very nice and clean. Large rooms, romantic setting, quiet, friendly... About a 15 to 20 min walk to the beach or walking street. Overall I enjoyed the hotel, even though I was let down by the New Years Party.	Booking was quick, easy and painless.
