Amora Tapae Hotel, Chiangmai, near Night Bazaar The hotel is good value for the price and location. The rooms are not the best i have stayed at in Thailand, but nothing too terrible. The breakfasts are decent and the staff is friendly. The spa is very good and offers good value for the money. The hotel has in-house travel agents who are very helpful. The one negative is that the pool looses direct sun by noon. If you re looking for a 5-star property...keep looking, but if you want a clean, decent hotel, Amora fits the bill. |
no issues |

Amora Tapae Hotel, Chiangmai, near Night Bazaar Wonderful location right on the east canal. Perfect for exploring the old town and within easy walking distance of the night and day markets and riverside. Lots of tour groups staying here so it s a bit impersonal. Pool only has sun in morning. Lobby is huge and needs plants and things to give it more colour and character. Great views over the old city from the front bedrooms but can be a bit noisy. |
Faultless. |

Amora Tapae Hotel, Chiangmai, near Night Bazaar Excellent location, room was clean and generally comfortable, but bed was overly firm. Pleasant, helpful and friendly staff. Included breakfast was very good with fine selection and fresh quality. In-house restaurant meals a bit on pricey side, so we sampled neighborhood restaurants instead. In-room safes were available, but at extra charge. I feel this should have been an included feature. |
Everything went smoothly and there were no surprises upon check-in. I highly recommend this service. |

Amora Tapae Hotel, Chiangmai, near Night Bazaar Nice rooms with quite good location. About 15 minutes walking distance to Night Bazaar area. We got 4 nights in the price of 3 nights, which was nice because it was peak season. Breakfast buffet was quite nice. |
Excellent. |

Amora Tapae Hotel, Chiangmai, near Night Bazaar I was left waiting 1 hour at the airport as the complimentary transit to the hotel was not there and they had the wrong arrival time for my flight. The flight number was given on the booking form but no-one had bothered to check the updated arrival time. I was then checked into a room with a connecting door to the next room. During my 5 nights 3 of them were disturbed by a screaming baby (every 2 hours on the last night). The beds were Thai style hard mattresses, not what one expects in a western-style hotel. The breakfast was dreary...overcooked local food, badly cooked werstern food. I complained to the restaurant mamager and asked him to ask the hotel manager to contact me. He didn t. The hotel touts itself as The Newest Hotel in Chiang Mai . It is in fact the old Rydges Hotel, and the new owners have not even bothered to change or clean the stained carpets in the corridors or repaint/refurbish the public areas. A very poor 2 star experience and I will not be staying there again.Strongly NOT recommended. |
Fine, except there was no field for arrival time so the hotel didn t know what time my flight arrived. |

Amora Tapae Hotel, Chiangmai, near Night Bazaar The Amora was a great choice mainly because it was extremely good value for money (we got the stay 3 nights pay 2 deal with free airport pick up and drop off) and the location as others have mentioned is very convenient. Most of the sites in Chiang Mai are a walking distance away, or a short 40Baht Tuk-Tuk ride. There are also several good restaurants and cafes nearby. The few downsides were - (a) the rooms are old and a bit stuffy, though acceptable, (b)the internet rates are 600Baht/day which is what big Bangkok hotels charge, even though there are several internet cafes virtually next door that are 30B/hr, and (c) the spa in the hotel is also unreasonably expensive, given that there are massage parlours and spas all around town that are less than half the price. Other than that our stay in Chiang Mai was great and we enjoyed the day elephant safari-Long Neck Tribe tour. Our only sour moment was at a local restaurant - Il Laterna di Genova - where we met an extremely rude (rare for Thais!) waitress/owner. Please don t go there if you have children as she virtually shouted at our 1 year old baby for dropping the fork and spoon on the floor!! |
I booked through Sawadee.com based on the reviews of others and have to say their reputation is well deserved. The booking was very easy and we got our confirmations the next day. The payment process was also easy, and I think that Web Sawadee gets better deals than a lot of the other websites for hotels in Chiang Mai (e.g. our stay 2 pay 3 nights offer was only on this website). |
