Lovey place, quiet and understated, took the hassle out of the trip completely. Pick up and drop off service for the airport, breakfast was fab - great coffee and yummy sausages. Room itself was a decent size, the outside shower a novelty & the terrace is practically on the beach. John the owner was helpful, knowledgeable and personable. Hats off, he runs a gem of a place.
No problems whatsoever.

Thought this villa was brilliant. Very cheap, clean and very friendly staff. I recomend paying the little more and get the sea view villa. Views from the bed are stunning

Nice and clean resort with a very kind and helpful owner and staff. Situated near the airport it is the perfect first stop before moving on. Very near the pier where the ferry to Koh Phangan goes. The only thing to complain about is the beach, it´s not so nice if you want to take a swim. There are som good restaurants in the vicinity of the resort, their own restaurant is good but a little expensive compared with the others. If you want more stores and restaurants it´s only around 20 minutes with car to Chaweng Beach.
Very quick and easy, it just takes a few minutes to do a reservation and pay for it.

For location this accommodation wins hands down. That is from the beach front bungalow. John and Rebecca Jarman have taken the place and up scaled some of the amenities. The bungalow was clean and comftable. Lacking in towels of a decent size though and tea and coffee making facilities. The food is on the steep side for Thailand. They charged us extra for veering from the breakfast menu even though I was in hospital for 5 days and had no breakfast. The beaver bar across was banging out music until 4 am the first night and I thought that this would stay the same. On other nights though they closed earlier. I had the idea that you would be able to have a drink around the bar with others staying there but the bar was shut by 9pm each night. The beach in front of the bungalows looks idylic but it is full of broken glass and has a couple of deck chairs. It would not be much of an investment to get some plastic loungers. My days of lying on a towel are gone. We were attracted to the Secret garden because of the music that was on on Sundays. This was no longer on but the day I came out of hospital there was a childrens party!!!!!!!! At 1800 bhat low season it is not the cheapest option on Samui and would warrent the extra touches such as sun beds decent towels etc and a TV that you could get reception on. John and Rebecca were very kind to me when I was ill and gave me lots of info etc. You will seldom stay in a bungalow with such an out look if you go for the beachfront. If you are going upmarket you need the extra touches. All in all though would recommend.
excellent, quick efficient and no problems at all.

My family ( 2 children aged 2 and 7 years )and I stayed at this resort on the above date for 3 nights. Although the room was clean and large enough for four of us, I found the amenities disappointing. A small childrens play area which is really dirty and the owner made it quite clear this was a business he was running. The prices of the drinks and food is high compared to other places in Southern Thailand. The beach here is rubbish so I would suggest that families stay elsewhere to avoid dissapointment.
Sawadee is the best booking service I have used. My husband two children aged 7 and 2 yrs and we travelled for a month. When other sites let us down, Sawadee suceeded. Will use in future. Cheers

n April 2007 we stayed for 16 days at Secret Garden. From the accurate pickup at the airport until our last day we felt very comfortable. During our stay we got to know JJ and Rebecca (the owners) as very friendly and helpfull persons. We where looking for a quiet place and found it at Secret Garden. For days we had the beach nearly for us allone. The feeling at this beach is a little bit like Thailand many years ago . But if you like to go to the much more crowdy place of Chaweng, you can reach it in short time with the tuck tuck or taxi. Our bungalow was no. 2, always clean, quit big enough, with aircondition, tv and fridge inside. The nice looking bathroom was open air and quite hot in the daytime. The owners offers you to take your breakfast all day at the time you prefer. If you like, you can walk to Big Buddha in a couple of minutes. The small town supports all you need. A 24hous open 7eleven right around the corner and some Thai Massage, hairdresser and open air cookshops. The food in Secret Garden Restaurant with beautiful sea view was allways very fresh, delightfull and well composed. We are looking back with best feelings to our passed holidays and will suggest this location for all who are looking for a personally, quiet and small but best managed bungalow resort. Hope we will see JJ and Rebecca once again. Ute Born and Patrick Freitag
Very good site to inform yourself about hotels, resorts, events and all you need for your traveling in Thailand.

If contemplating a stay here, one should be aware that it is neither garden nor resort like, but a motel on a busy strip of tawdry bars and other establishments. These were noisy until the early hours of the morning. The room itself was fine, but the website did not honestly describe the motel or the setting. Despite the increasing commercialization of Ko Samui, there are still good spots to be found. We did much better on Mae Nam beach.
All seemed to work well.
