Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay Be warned about this place. Peak season price is nowhere near worth it. Photos look ok but the room was grubby, it never got cleaned. There is also barely any difference between the superior and delux rooms, certainly not 500 bart difference. This room is worh nowhere near 2950 bart/night!!! |
No problems with bokking servive, very efficient. |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay Quite nice place at Tonsai Beach. Nice bungalow and friendly staff. The bed was a bit too hard for my taste.. A bit more relaxed feeling here than on Railey with lots of climbers and backpackers. Believe Tonsai Bay resort is a bit more posh than the other places at Tonsai beach so you might find cheaper accomodation elsewhere. OK to be on the beach and swim below the cliffs although a bit nicer if you tak a longtail to phra nang beach. Lots of OK restaurants up in the jungle. |
Excellent bookingservice with quick replies |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay Clean rooms with airco and warm water. Nice exotic environment. Things to be aware of: the only way to reach the resort is by boat from Ao Nang (but you were looking for a quiet, isolated place, weren t you?) electricity is not available from 9AM to 5PM. (every day) Definetely worth the price. |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay Sadly we were disappointed with this resort. The rooms did not get cleaned very well and the bathroom was not cleaned at all while we were there. Small things which make your stay more comfortable were also absent such as a bedside lamp for reading although I requested one several times and a mirror in the bathroom. We originally booked for just 3 nights but ended up having to stay longer because nowhere else in the vicinity had any vacancies. The restaurant where breakfast was served was also dirty with hundreds of flies all over the place. The breakfast buffet was never covered over and the flies were always crawling over everything. Most of our family ended up with stomach upsets which has never happened before to us in Thailand, but then we have never shared our breakfast with flies before! My advice to anyone looking for a resort in this area is to go elsewhere. The Tonsai Bay resort is too expensive for what you get and is probably the worst mid-range resort we have ever stayed at in Thailand. |
Booking service was great. We altered our dates at one point and that was all changed with no problems. |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay We stayed in one of the superior cottages these are well back from the noisey beachfront bars. The walk to the rooms meant walking along a short rocky path past a few dirty shacks, of a night time there is no lighting so take a torch. There was not a traditional Thai feel to the rooms (whitewash walls, a little clinical). The rooms were made up each day but the bathroom smelt quite mouldy, air con worked well tho. I would not bother with the restaurant, there are a lot of ants on the tables and the breakfast buffet is open to flies (had breakfast the following day at Railay). We will come back to this part of Thailand as the scenery and cliffs are magnificent but will stay in Railay West. |
Super. Never a problem. |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay The Hotelroom were nice. You must know that there are two sides to Krabi. The Hippie side(Tonsai side) and not hippie side. The location for us was fine. The breakfast was horrible. Too many flies! Overall, it was okay but I m not sure, sense I did not do much research..Maybe a bit expensive for what we recieved. |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay To cut a long story short - we got a really bad service: we reserved a superior room in advance through sawadee.com, and paid in advance, but when we arrived it appeared that they gave away all the superior rooms already and they said that they are already full! only after long hours of negotiating and after involving the sawadee.com team, they gave us a standard room. We also heard many people complain that there isn t hot water (and of course we did not have as well). On top of all, instead of appologizing for their mistake, they treated us as if we are the ones to blame and were very unhelpful (especially the manager of the place who just sat there without doing nothing). We will definitely not recommend this place!!! |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay This place is truely exotic and rustic. The only approach here is by boat and hence best suited to backpackers. Do not even try to travel heavy unless you want a broken back. The Hotel is very basic and the staff does not understand English at all so try some dumb charades... trust me it works ! |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay My husband and I arrived here on our honeymoon with the intention of staying for 8 days... and we couldn t leave fast enough. We left after a day very disappointed. From them dumping us off the crowded boat on the far end of the muddy beach with our bags, to not getting the king room we booked but a room with two beds, one unmade and dirty, to the electricity going out all night, (which is so fine and expected) it kept setting off every light and the doorbell, it was not what we were led to believe. Simple and rustic and beautiful was expected. Disorganized, VERY overpriced and misrepresented on the website was not. The main disappointment for us...there is NO BEACH. When it is not muddy with low tide (cool, fine, we get that) it is overrun with boats and gear and groups of people organizing and shouting for their trips. This resort is a BASE CAMP basically. There is no swimming and no chilling with a book on the beach. So as long as you know that you won t be surprised. The night life is great...the place livens up as the climbers come back after their trips so that was fun. But not a slice of paradise to relax on. |
We cancelled and had to pay one extra night. Fair enough. But they need to change the website to reflect what this place is. |

Tonsai Bay Resort, Ao Nang, Tonsai Bay Background - we (6 guests from 30 to 80 years of age with extensive travel experience) had booked three bungalows for three weeks at Tonsai Bay Resort in Krabi. Here we would like to share our experiences with other coming guest. This is why we don t think it s was no value for money: Over all: :-( Safety/Security::-( Room service: :-( Restaurant staff: :-) + :-) - First week NO hot water in shower even though we talked to management every day. - We had to beg/ask for toilet paper when we needed refill. Not done default by the cleaning staff. - Power failure every day. - No functioning air-conditions in one of the bungalows just only a fan. - The TV set was half in order in one bungalow, not working in another (totally dead) and in the third three channels but a dead remote control. - No and odd number of drinking glasses. - Only one bungalow had a lamp by the bed (I.e. as in brochure). - After the first day a plastic chair on terrace was stolen - It took more than a week to get a replacement. - No introduction when we arrived Nor one page summary in bungalow with info like breakfast hours, safety boxes, security- & safety info, how to get medical attention if required. This is what can be expected at every hotel. - No free bottles of drinking water in refrigerator as stated in brochure - Only 4 hangers in the wardrobes - for 2 guests and 3 weeks, just imagine! - Only half of the lamps in order on the path from beach to bungalow. I.e. completely dark and quite dangerous at evening. - No help/assistance/support received in one emergency situation when called for a doctor. One guest in coma. I found help by happening, a doctor from Italy was over hearing the conversation. But Tonsai was not able to give any support or advice. A serious thing was when we start to realize that things where missing. Small coins/change, stamps, candies, cosmetics, etc. Also that someone was going through personal belongings. One day a passport was lying on the desk. The passport was stored in a closed suitcase. The absolutely most serious thing was that someone from the cleaning staff (as they where the only with key access according to the manager) took my wife s wedding ring - unforgivable. This behavior is connected to bad luck so I assume the thief will be punished. We took this up with the management and I thought it was a little bit odd (unusual) when the manager, house keeper and 3 cleaning ladies came to my bungalow and I was the one to take up a discussion with people not understanding English. Of course, this is not how to solve this type of issue - assuming the guests taking up the (for all concerned) embarrassing discussion. Our understanding (as manager informed us) is that this type of problem was not something new - it had happen before. Manager had discussed this, our loss, with the board of directors and suggested safety boxes to be installed, I.e. information to no use for us. After the first week I was talking to the manager and informed him that all of us taken decision to move to another resort. Within the hour of that discussion the shower, t-paper and cleaning (?) was fixed!? Although we had those mentioned things in mind all of us will give a huge amount of credit to the staff in the restaurant. And we mean ALL of them, they shown an extra-ordinary service mind. Cook and his staff was definitely something that added other values to the weeks. One thing to remember is that they took a very active part in arranging a birthday party for our grandma we thank them for that. This is in short what we would like to share with other Tonsai Bay Resort potential guests. Last but not least! Nobody, travel agencies, internet or brochure did mention the tide. Just look at the pictures and you understand. No-one can imagine how it could look like and the consequences when the water is gone. This is also something to be informed about before making the booking. |
The booking service provided by sawadee.com was as usual according to our expectations and previous experience GOOD. We really recommend this very convenient service, we will use them again. |
