Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
Since the Tsunami the hotel rooms have been totally redone. Prior to that the rooms were getting the old and worn look but today they are very nice. The rooms are small but comfortable and many have a beautiful view, a view like a post card you might send to friends. All the staff is friendly and speak adequate English to meet your needs. The hotel is well maintained and in best location on the island if you want to be in walking distance of the village where all the restaurants are in addition to dive shops, agencies offering special tours, hundreds of typical beach clothing and jewelry shops, convenience stores, night life and a number of those small massage shops offering a wonderful one to two hour Thai massage for very little money and once your hooked, you will come back for more. If you stay at one of the nice spa or hotel resorts up the island some distance, if you choose to visit the village you will have to rent a long tail boat for every trip and this can get expensive and it is not always advisable if there are storms or it is night time. I highly recommend the Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel and ask for a view of the back bay. If you enjoy relaxing on the sandy beach or a swim in the pool, Phi Phi Island Cabana has it all with a 3 minute walk from your room. Breakfast is very adequate with lots of choices and a chef is available for fresh omlets as you request. If you visit the island, take some time to relax and get acquainted with the people. Thai people treat tourist with respect and care and they are wonderful people. Learn about their life style, their schools, their families. Many on the island have come from small villages in Thailand to find work and they too fall in love with the island atmosphere. Be sure and rent a long tail boat for 1/2 a day and visit some wonderful snorkeling locations within 30 minutes of the village on the same island or visit some of the nearby islands such as Bamboo, Phi Phi Lei, and others. Buy some fresh bananas at the market and take a long tail about 10 minutes from the pier to feed the wild monkeys. And do remember they can get aggressive so use common sense. You can go diving, cliff jumping, snorkeling, and even take Thai cooking classes at a small restaurant in the village. If you want a 5 star resort, Phi Phi Cabana is not one. There is not one within walking distance of the village. Also, take a hike to view point. The view is worth the hike. At the top is a small shop for refreshments. I suggest no less than 3 full days on the island or otherwise you never get the chance to totally appreciate the island atmosphere and you function as a tourist all the time. I prefer to stay a minimum of 4 full days and often more. The trip from Phuket or Krabi is about 2 hours by ferry. The ferry boat is an experience alone. Get to the ferry 20 to 30 minutes early so you can get a seat in the A/C part. If you want to walk out in the sun and on the outside deck you can always leave something in your seat. They sell water, beer and soft drinks and few snacks on the boat. I recommend a metered taxi, yellow taxi, from the airport at Phuket to the Rasada Pier. Others will try to charge twice as much. Ferry tickets should cost 700 baht round trip but this is always a challenge. Do not feel bad if you pay 1000 baht. When you land at any of the airports there are many trying to sell you hotels, taxi service and ferry tickets. I suggest you keep on walking. You can change your money on the island without a problem. Several banks, many bank exchange locations and ATMs. Creidt cards are accepted by many restaurants and hotels and even the shops. If you wish to visit the local elementary school, take a 20 minute hike and go into the Admin office. They are proud to tell you about their program. I often make a small contribution to the school. Learn about the religions on the island. Spend time visiting with possibly the most wonderful people on the planet, the Thai people. ENJOY.
Very helpful and answered all my questions promptly. I highly recommend them. By the way, rainy season is a good time to go. First in high season prices are much higher plus the number of tourists doubles. In rainy season it is often a bit more comfortable in temperature and the rains never last long. Four hours at most but generally 30 minutes to two hours and the the sun returns.

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
I originally booked for three nights for this hotel. However, after my arrival I was disappointed about the hotel and the island and I realized that it was too long to stay for 3 nights. So I decided to shorten my stay for only one night. The hotel rooms were small and not very clean. The bath room was small too and the water from the taps was salty. The only good thing about this hotel was the swimming pool which was nice and facing the beach. Apart from that everything else was just about average. Wireless Internet service was only limited to the cafĂ© area and it was very slow. A small travelers tip, if you are planning to stay for one night at Phi Phi Island and want to make good use of your day, make sure to catch up the afternoon snorkeling and sunset tours as these normally leave after 1:30pm.
Excellent service and they were very helpful to cancel my other two days without any cancellation charges.

Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel, Phi Phi Island, Ton Sai Beach
Its just a so so place. The water pressure is low, water is salty, limited shower space. The view is good, and overall, the room size is spacious (exclude the bathroom; in which I almost fell due to the unneccessary uneven floor). The people there are friendly overall though some don t speak/understand decent english. Do not book ferry ticket from the hotel s tour counter; instead call from room or book it outside as it is cheaper.
Great!

i originally booked the andaman suite, but on arrival, this couldnt be provided as it had problems with leaks. we were then offered two separate rooms of equal value, but both rooms were so far apart that the following day we chose to move to another closer room, but of lesser value. the hotel did not compensate us for this incovenience in any way. also, the water pressure in some rooms are not good, and they did not do a good job with my laundry. on a positive note, the breakfast buffet is good and the service is friendly.
no problems with booking.

Best location and pool on the island. The room as fantastic with beautiful open views accross the sea. Plenty of hot water, good water pressure, spotless room , friendly helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel to arrange. Although not much English (after all this is thailand and i cant speak Thai) we were perfectly understood all the time. will be returning end july and hopefully again and again to Phi Phi Cabana Hotel.
the best, as always

Perfect location! You couldn t beat the 2 minute walk from the ferry. Hotel room and facilities were very nice although the shower temperature fluctuated drastically.

Good location (in between both beaches). Hotel is about 100yds on the laft as you come off the ferry, which was handy. Couldn t believe the hotel was rebuilt 2 years ago, following the Tsunami - it looked like it had been there for 50 years! The refurb job was fairly slapdash , but you don t get 5 star in Phi Phi (or Koh Tao). We uograded to an Andaman Suite (which they let us have for 12000bt a night instead of 15000bt). The room was ok - 2 bedrooms (which we didn t need), air con wasn t cold enough, and I don t think the french windows had ever been cleaned (marks all over it where someone had leant against it with sun oil on - yuk!!!). No safe in the room, and the water was brown from the taps (no kidding). Pool was great, with plenty of sun beds and no rush to bag one, which I hate. Overall a nice hotel, but certainly not the Shangr-La!
Fab as usual!
