Tropical Herbal Spa & Resort, Ao Nang, Phranang Bay
The resort is absoilutely beautiful and when we arrived it was blisfully sunny and everywhere looked gorgeous. We stayed in villa 5 which was lovley, a little run downa nd could ahve done with a lick of pain in areas anda bit of updating but lovley nevertheless and loads of character. our bath and shower was outdoors which was so romantic but from day 2 the heavens opened and i ahve to admit that our stay was not so great.bathing in the cold rain or showering is not really as romantic and the loo was outside so you had to run form the villa in the rain to the loo everytime you went outside and get soaked. The only wardrobe was outdoors by the loo and this meant all our clothes were constantly damp and no where to dry anything so we had to get eerything laundered. this is however very reasonable. We did however manage to ahve a lovley aromatic bath run for us one evening when the rain stopped and the staff filled with oils and flowers and fresh fruit laid out next to the bath which was heavenly and i would definitley recommend. The massages are also brilliant and i would recommend these in numerous quantities as so relaxing and gorgeous setting whether raining or not. The staff were a pleasure and went out of their way to make our stay as lovley as possible, the only real downfall i would say is that no one warned us it would be monsoon and that the restuarnt would also be closed so the brochure detailling all the lovley food you could ahve was not really accurate, although a good breakfast was served each morning. did i mention the building site next door? Oh yes we were woken up every morning at 7.30am by hammering and banging as abuilding was erected next door, this was something else we were not warned about All in all a beatiful place to stay in high season when the sun is shining znd the building has stopped. Personally i would probably no come back though as we were not very impressed with Ao nang as a whole and found it very touristy and a bit like benidorm in Asia. When the sun is out however i am sure everything improves and i take my hat off to the resort and their staff for making a bad situation a lot better.

Booking service was very efficient but if had been more personable maybe we would have been told about the building works and the time of year we chose to go in not being ideal.

when i arrived i wasnt too impressed as the hotel was virtually hidden off a main road but once you enter the resort you feel hidden from the tourist track. as it has lots of trees and greenery giving it a jungle feel. If you dont like your typical hotel resorts, which are everywhere and you want something different then its ideal. i found the room to be really nice and clean, there is a hotel being built next door, but didnt bother us at all, we were out all day so it was finished by the time we got back. The pool was nice, and on one occasion returning from a long day out, the staff turned on the jacuzzi for us. I have to mention that the staff were outstanding, just so nice and will go out of their way to help you, including lifts to the beach if you dont feel like the walk on a hot day, which is only 15mins at most anyway or a 40baht tuk tuk ride back, and can be nice to take in the main street of ao nang,if going to krabi (ao nang) again i would definetly stay again.

i would highly recommend sawadee to book hotels in thailand.

Great value for money.Great place. Staff very nice friendly and helpful. Some construction work going on next door at the time we stayed but we were put up at the top of the resort so it didn t really bother us. Breakfast was good. Very hilly and steep steps to get to rooms but worth it.

Great booking service.

Very nice resort, beautiful garden and very nature. The staffs are very kindly, clean everyday. The toilet is outside the livingroom and sometimes in the night a bit afraid to go to the toilet. Always checking (dangerous animals) before inside the room. With small children ( we have 3 years old doughter) is not so feeling savety. No place you can walk easyly with your children because the location is like the hill. When we swimming at pool I found green little snake. My husband saw it too but when the man at the resort came is already gone. But they said not often happens. The breakfast is very standard (no other choice).

Sawadee is very good! We have no problem for the second times with checked in.

This resort is the perfect place to rest if you re looking for a quiet, relaxing oasis. The villas are very large, with a fresh basket of fruit and a fully stocked mini-bar. The pool is heavenly, surrounded by thick palm trees and karst hills in the background. If you re lucky, you might even see monkeys! The spa is overpriced, but if ambiance is important to you, than it s worth the money. The staff is more than helpful; very lovely people.

The resort was lovely, just as shown on the Sawadee website. However we were the unlucky ones as we were given a Villa which was nothing like what we saw on the website. All the other Villas had been recently refurbished. Our s must have been used as a store room for a while as it was in such a state. We are in the process of requesting compensation. I hope Sawadee will be as efficient when it comes to giving out compensation. If you do decide to book this resort make sure they dont give you Villa 1. It was so obvious that it wasn t meant to be rented out that it wasnt on their info booklet at the hotel and not even on their own website. We were unable to change room or resort as everywhere was fully booked.

Booking service was great as usual. However I wont book another hotel that requires full payment before you even get there.

Great place for young honeymooners like us, or mid-aged couples looking for memorable romantic nights! Loads of stairs have to be climbed, so if you don t have a pair of healthy legs, I wouldn t choose this. However, we had villa 6; one of the villa s highest on the top, so we had a lot of privacy. Bed was good and klambu was really no luxury considering some mots, bugs and mosquitos flying around at night. Bathing in rose leafs at night in a huge tub surrounded by candles under the stars and palm tree leafs with the background sound of lizards, grasshoppers, birds and a fountain was an unforgettable experience. Positives: ========== - bed - cleaniness - privacy - greens, plants, flowers - huge bath tub - one time we had to leave very early for trip and they packed our breakfast for us so that we could take it with us on our way, which was very nice! Negatives: ========== - very low water pressure and water wasn t hot.. not even warm (it took more than 2 hrs. to fill up the tub and by the time it was full, the water was already cold). Also, the pressure of the tapwater was so low, that the shower head didn t give enough water to wash the soap off your body. - we had power outage 2X at night when we came home. This is frightening, because you have to find your way up the stairs while it s very dark and find key+keyholes. - breakfast was a dissapointment; first morning there was only the usual fat continental boring sauzage, bacon, fried egg and toast. We asked for Thai food, rice, vegetables, yoghurt and fruit. The next day there was some, but it wasn t really cooked or prepared nicely. - w.c. pot is right in the middle of the open air bathroom. Doing nr.1 in front of my girlfriend is still ok, but nr.2 visible to her was a little embarrassing. - There is a mosque right next to the resort. An islamic iman starts with his prayers through loudspeakers early in the morning and keeps repeating this during the day several times. This woke us up a few times too early unfortunately. - Locks of front door and terrace door are a bit old and sometimes it took us a while to open or close the doors. - Fridge is very small and was filled with cans and stuff we don t like to consume. So we had to leave the contents of it outside the fridge for the entire week so that there was space to put our own products in. - back end of room behind the bed was placed 1/2 meter lower than the front end. Very dangerous, because we stumbled down and fell down several times, hitting our heads against the closet. If you re less lucky than we were, you can break a leg or hip. - About the resort s facilities: hotspa, steambath and sauna which is free for customers. However, when we finally requested this on our last day we were told that they were out of order.

Great, easy and clear - already did my next bookings with Sawadee again.
