I great place to stay on Koh Samui! The bunglows are stunning with modern decor. The pool area is great and has lovely views over the surronding hills. The staff are helpful and friendly. There is a shopping centre at the bottom of the road and easy access to Bohput and Chaweng, while being away from the crowds. I definately recommend this place!

Fine, no problems

Really excellent hotel with outstanding staff. Especially a great honour to the two ladies behind the reception. Although they do not speak english very well they really do their upmost to understand or please every customer in their needs. A good advice for the owner/manager of this resort: afford those running ladies a good course/training in English, they are really worth it!!! Without them you really loose the spirit of your resort. We really had a pleasant stay, beautiful swimmingpool, nice villa, clean and foremost friendly staff. The free internet computer needs to be replaced by a new one. A solution must be sought for securing the PC every night. This is why the PC falls out now (cables are connected and disconnected every night and morning) We would recommend this hotel to everybody who loves Kho Samui.... I should of read the other comments before booking this hotel. The staff couldnt speak english but they were nice. The room was moldy and had tons of insects. A large cane spider jumped at my husband the first hour upon our arrival. If these cottages were remodeled, they could be really nice. The pool was far from our room. Breakfast was even worse. Bacon and my hard boiled eggs were un-cooked and when we sent them back, they sent it right back still in the same un-cooked state. There are no motor bike rentals for reasonable prices close to the village. We had to walk about 4 miles to the nearest one. If you decide on staying at the resort, make sure you have a motor bike or rental car before hand.

Great as usual

A beautiful resort. Not many people staying at the resort, which made it very quiet. Would stay again.

This place has so much potential but alas the management is terrible. The place has great design but has not been maintained as it should and is getting dirty fast. Out bathroom cieling leaked when it rained and there are big gaps under the doors for bugs and lizards to get inside. Our last night we could not sleep because so many bugs were in our room, including our bed. Lizards were chirping all around us having a hey day on the bugs. It sucked. The kids working there were really sweet but had very little experience in the service industry. They couldn t have been older than 20-21 years old and there was no real manager there to speak of. They were awkward to deal with and charged us for every little extra thing including a second cup up coffee at breakfast!! We were not allowed to bring our pool towels to the beach so we had to buy our own. The location is pretty sucky. You have to travel 10-15 minutes to get to the nearest beach. It is set on top of a developement of some sort making it feel very suburban if it weren t for the evil elephant trekking camp right next to us. You can hear pissed off elephants wailing. The first 2 days we stayed we were not even able to use the pool due to them giving it a much needed cleaning. In the mean time the 5 worker guys swam in the pool in their underwear and stared my wife down every time we walked by. Oh and the work out room is outside with no AC and extremely old, rusty, and unlkept equiptment. Over the 3 days we stayed we didn t notice them cleaning it once. Sweat marks remained and we had to wipe down stuff ourselves. Sorry so negative but this place will go under within a couple years. So much potential in the design and layout but not well tended to. Do not stay here.

good.

This is one of the best resorts I have had the pleasure of staying at on Samui. Its relatively small and all the better for it. The bungalows are of a contemporary design inside and very comfortable, with plenty of space to stow all your luggage and move around. The pool is great, especially in the evening, with a view looking down the hill over some private houses which share the same guarded scheme and across to the forested hills opposite. All the staff are very friendly making you feel very welcome with gardeners constantly looking after the grounds. They do hire scooters now which are perfect, as its a fair walk up to the top of the hill in the heat of the day and yep the breakfast is a little repetitive, but the only fault the I can come up with is that eventually you will have to leave and go back home! Many thanks to all at the Hillside..........Hotdog

This was our first time in Samui. We originally had planned to stay the first 2 weeks in a sea resort and then go to a remote place in a jungle (so we thought!) where we could relax before the flight back home. We were surprised to see that the Hillside Village Resort is only a couple of hundred meters from the main road. The villas were spacious and beautiful, but some remarks could be made of the cleanliness - some dusting needs to be done every once in a while - at least before the new guests check in. The pool and the gym were great. The restaurant is more like a snack bar and the cook really should learn how to cook western food if it´s on the list. The breakfast needs a lot of improvement. It consists of 2 pieces of bread, jam, fried or scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, tea or coffee, orange juice and a small plate of fruits. After eating bacon and eggs for two days in a row, you would like to have some change in the diete. We don´t envy the people who spend a longer time in the resort! The staff was super friendly and helpful, but there was one who didn´t practically speak any English or had probably never worked in a restaurant - and she was the waitress. The manager has lived nearly all his life in Canada and is very nice, so if you need help, talk to him. Still this resort is good value for money!

Brand new and excellent value for money. Great room, spacious with excellent lighting, huge shower, TV and fridge. Beautiful views of the hills from the balcony. Fantastic pool below the restaurant, which serves a mean green curry, and for those who can be bothered a well equipped gym ! You will however need your own transport as it is on the top of a hill, off a busy main road, which is at least a 20 minute walk to Bohphut.

prompt and efficient, would use again
