Baan Talay Resort, Chaweng Beach
Baan Talay is a friendly resort, the beach right outside the hotel is also very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful and in the reception the staff spoke English quite well. In the restaurant not so well. The breakfast was ok. Better than some hotels but certainly not the best. They only had one kind of bread - toast, no cheese. But ham, bacon and eggs of your choice, yogurt, cerial and so on. We stayed in a pool-view room och it was very pleasant and nicely decorated although simple. The only thing about the room that we did not like was the bed. We stayed in 4 different hotels while in Thailand - all had quite hard beds, but Baan Talays bed was like a rock to sleep on! All in all I can really recommend this resort (unless you have back problems or don´t sleep well in hard beds).

Very good and quick!

Baan Talay Resort, Chaweng Beach
Have stayed at Chaweng beach 6 different times now. First time at the Baan Talay Resort. The hotel is just ok for the price. Had some bad sides and some good sides. Location of Baan Talay is one of the best at Chaweng beach. I think that will be the main point for choosing this hotel. Pool is also very nice, and always clean. We had a poolside view bungalow, it was well worth the extra money comparing to garden bungalows. Anyway very basic bungalows which had no extra luxury. But you got what you need for a good holiday and they were clean with an ok AC. Breakfast was good, and you could also get cooked different kind of eggs as extra order for free. 24/7 security was always onsite, feel very safe there. Now some downpoints. First the hotel laundry. We tried it. And it costs a fortune. It was like 3-4 times higher priced than the laundrys next door from the hotel. The washing and ironing result was not any better at the hotel laundry than the cheaper ones. English skills on the staff. We only found 2 persons at the resort that was able to communicate in english as an conversation. Had some misunderstandings during the stay. Restaurant. This is a big mystery for us. Location of the restuarant is beachfront, and could be very nice. But it looks more lika a hospital with only 4 white walls and no decor at all. No charm whatsoever. It had costed very litte money and effort to get this restaurant nice and charmy, and it have huge competition from nice restaurants in the neighborhood, so we dont understand it. Very impersonal. Then the resort dont have a separate bar. They have one part of the restaurant which they serve drinks in the restaurant opening hours. Thats just fine. BUT. They close the restaurant ( and so also the bar ) at 2130 in the evening. Means its not possible bying a drink at the resort after that. Why dont have the bar part of the restuarant opened to for example 2300 ? A lot of guests were asking the same questions as we did about the bar. We tried to eat there 3 times during the stay. The food was good, but pricy. All in all we recommend the hotel.

Straight forward, no complains.

Nice place with a wonderful garden and swimmingpool. Stayed in the beachfront bungalows, basic rooms but clean. Staff very friendly. Great beach, probably the best on Chaweng Beach. Restaurant was overpriced but breakfast was ok. We had a great time, and would stay here again.

Super, no problems.

i booked in for 6 days but only stayed for 3 i booked the beachfront bungalow which is right on the beach and payed £83 a night but had 2 extra beds which was 2 camp beds very small for a extra £25 per night so was paying £107 per night and i wasnt happy with the room it was very basic with a cement bathroom and the shower has 2 windows that looked out to the bedroom so when my 2 teenage daughters was showering we had to leave the room has there was no privaty, 2 family members stayed in the pool bungalow and the shower had all the wires hanging out and they are all rusty outside we did not like it at all we stayed at baantalay 3 or 4 times before but they have let it go and not inproved it but just put there prices up

We thought the resort as very nice, we had a room down by the pool, close to the restaurant ) the room was cleaned daily fresh towels, good bathroom and the shower actually worked well, all tiled floor - water in the fridge, daily - beds made etc, even with 2 messy Teenagers it worked out really good) we loved the pool -- is was the best! Special pool towels was available . The garden around very nice, and this end of the beach much better. The only thing some people booked “their” beach chairs in the morning with towels)) not a problem for me ! just get up a bit earlier and “Bob’s our Uncle” They had a small straw hut with a bar) this I would redesign to make it more inviting ) the breakfast was really good and the restaurant area clean, staff very help full )) mind you! We treated them with a smile They even cooked us a special dinner with Tiger Prawns that my son and I went out and got at the market )) “ this will remain our secret they were only 300 Bath per Kg )) the only thing was the clear wind plastic pull downs in the restaurant area some of them had been left to long and would not come down. And the pool loungers) the plastic covered foam things was very heavy with water)) could be fixed just by rolling them tight to squeeze the water out All in all we would love to come back again to enjoy the hospitality ) we had a good time Claes Ewards Auckland New Zealand

Very good ) I made several hotel enquiries, and always got a good fast response. I must say that if you want to book for 2-3 people you need to make a real effort to find out what is going to suite you. And you need to book well in advance. The only other thing that I would like to see - would be what credit cards the resorts take )) we got caught out the morning we left))) they did not accept AMX, card - “that is the only card I carry” I had to run to the ATM machine and take out cash so we could check out -“ not very good timing”

This was a great hotel on the end of Chaweng Beach so it was less crowded and cleaner than the central part. The reception area is a bit depressing, however the layout of the gardens, rooms and pool is really nice. Rooms are basic and service is good. You need to take a taxi/tuktuk/motorbike to get to clubs/restaurants to go out in the evening.

Great service and quick response to my enquiries.

Probably the worst room I have stayed in in Thailand. Although it was clean it was very basic. Not even a telephone or more importantly the in-room safe indicated on the website. On the positive side it did have a very nice pool. Breakfast below average for the price paid. There are far better rooms available in Chaweng for 2500 baht.

Efficient as always.
