Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai Rooms very nice and big - but what i woud have expected for cost of room. Towels were small, with no small towel provided for washing hair. (seems maid forgot). The rest of the maid service was excellent. The breakfast was very nice and provided healthy options as well as the traditionally less healthy choices. The service was excellent, No was happy to book anything we needed taxi s or day trips. This is a very quiet resort, and not recommended if you are looking to meet other people or for a lively time. The beach is beautiful in this part of the island though and well worth seeing. The atmosphere in the restaurant/reception area was lacking, and a bit half hearted - they could do with a bit of nighttime activity, to bring guests together - perhaps a pool table, show a film or two in the bar area. The pool bar was not open at all. Also given the location on the island, be warned to expect a very bumpy taxi ride of about 45 minutes - eating before that ride is not recommended..... |

Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai We enjoy our five days at candle hut resort, we were very satisfied. One wish is: better deckchairs on the beach. When we visit Thailand again, we come back to candle hut resort. |

Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai I think this place is the definition of quirky. The beach front villa was beautiful, but in addition to the previously mentioned shower curtain issue, there was no bathroom door within the villa. My spouse is pretty private, so one of us went outside when the other had to use the bathroom. And the place was spotless every day, but one day the cleaner threw out our contact lense cases. But the AC worked very well, the bed was comfy, we never had any mosquitos in our room, and the not-too-pricey minibar was a nice touch. For the resort overall, the breakfast was good, the location is excellent, and we found the pool to be very clean. We weren t too happy with the snorkel tour organized by the hotel, though. It was really just transportation from one point to another -- the snorkel equipment leaked, you had to pay for lunch yourself and there really wasn t any guidance at the waterfall. Maybe all the snorkel trips on the beach are like that, but it felt like a waste of time and money. |
No problems. |

Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai Candle Hut s location, (far end of Yai beach), is good. The beach itself is picturesque and pretty. The newer bungalows are modern, clean and nice. They are however equipt with an outdoor shower, where the shower is mounted are sliding glass doors which lead on to the resort area. While the idea of an outdoor shower is fun and romantic it is also very impractical as the glass doors facing the shower are only covered by a shower curtain hanging from a rod. This means that if it is windy, the shower curtain moves, leaving a clear view of both the shower and toilet area, leaving you exposed to anyone whom passes by your bungalow. The pool was extremly dirty and definitely not child friendly. Nobody used the pool. Luckily we were able to use the pool at the neighbouring resort, which enabled us to stay at Candle Hut for the duration of our holiday at Thong Nai Pan Yai. Service left a lot to be desired. While the owner herself was very friendly, others in her staff came across as unprofessional and on a couple of occasions unfriendly. By 16:00 our bungalow still hadn t been cleaned and we were left chasing after clean towels etc. Staff also sat around the bungalow and pool area, smoking and snacking which came across as quite unprofessional. The pool and beach furniture were horrible. They were broken or very old and scarce. The beach was also very badley cleand in front of the resort, ciggaretts and plastic parts everywere. The overall experience was definitely not worth the price of the rooms and we shall not be staying there again. The dirty pool was the worse. / Andreas Gahm |

Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai Candle Hut was a great place to stay to relax, unwind and enjoy the local surroundings. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked nicely. The pool was great, the restaurant had some great food both Thai and Western (great burgers!!!) and the beach out front was the perfect palce to relax. Staff were also helpful and spoken English comfortably. If your on a party holiday, consider Candle Hut as a place to recover before kicking on again. If your having a quiet holiday or even Honeymoon, its a great resort to relax, I can highly recommend Candle Hut. |

Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai Great hotel, great location but very unfriendly receptionnist. I am sorry but this man is just try to sell some trips but not to inform people. From morning to night he never smile : he spoil my stay. My advice : that kind of people should not work in a resort. Customers are not stupid. |

Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai The hotel resort itself is wonderful. The rooms and swimming pool area are lovely as is the scenic surroundings of the beach. As for the staff, they are a let down. Not very pleasant to talk to as they do not seem to know what a smile is (apart from the little bar waitress assistant who was very smiley). They didn t even thank us for our custom at the end of our stay. Resort 8/10 and staff 2/10. |
This was ok however would have been nice to know the details of the pick up arrangements when we got to koh phangan. |

Candle Hut Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai We booked the wooden bungalow since the pictures on the website looked so idyllic and beautiful and the price (1500 baht) seemed reasonable for a week of relaxing after 2,5 weeks of budget trekking. Once we entered the wooden bungalow we were desillusionated: brown carpetting, mould on the ceiling, barely light in the bathroom and a toilet that wouldn t flush. Obviously this weren t the huts shown on their website and 1500 baht was way overrated. The management wasn t very nice either, the only thing good about the place was the delicious food. The beach was very remote, too remote for us 25-years old who also want a little fun in the nighttime plus this side of the island was so windy that the sea was too rough to swim in. After two nights we left because we found a superb resort on the west coast for lesser money, better service and more beautiful beach and sea. |
The booking went great, we made a deposit via credit card and all the details were known to the staff, so no problem at all! |
